HIFU Face and Body Skin Tightening
Hifu stands for High Intensity Focus Ultrasound. Hifu skin tightening is a non-invasive, non-ablative method that allows for energy deposition into the fascia, while avoiding epidermal heating. The beam of the ultrasound energy will pass harmlessly through the skin allowing a focal point to target deep layers of the skin structure.
Collagen is the main structural protein in the extracellular matrix in the connective tissue. It consists of amino acids, bound together by hydrogen bonds to form triple helix. Collagen is important in wound healing and it is the main component in fascia, cartilage, bone, ligaments, tendons and skin.
Hifu will heat the tissue to 60 -70 C, which is the temperature at which collagen denaturation occurs and the tissue repair cascade begins.

SMAS
It is the Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System, which is a term traditionally given to the superficial facial fascia complex.
It is a tissue sheet of collagen and elastin fibres that thickens with age.
Type 1 SMAS occurs in the forehead, running down and parallel to the ear, across the upper and lower face and around the eye.
Type 2 SMAS is a dense mesh of collagen, elastin, and muscle fibres and is found in the lip area.
SMAS thickness vary throughout the face from 2to 3mm.
In body areas, it is found below the abdominal wal, and in front of the muscles. The depth of the treatment is dictated by the skin thickness at that site.

SMAS lifting results in greater skin tightening as it is the foundation of the skin structure.
HIFU & Skin Lifting
Hifu can be used on the face and the body to achieve these results:
1. Brow lifting
2. Jowl lifting
3. Mid face lifting
4. Reduction of Nasolabial folds
5. Reduction of Marionette lines 6. Neck lifting
7. Lifting of the décolleté
8. Breast lifting
9. Brazilian Bum lifting
10.Abdominal wall tightening
11. Skin tightening and rejuvenation of body areas where there is flaccid skin
